Got to be the first guests at Nolla cabin, Helsinki, Finland. Here’s a glimpse to my experience:
Designed by Finnish designer Robin Falck, Nolla (=zero in English) is a 9 square meter wooden cabin representing an approach to lifestyle, in which the focus is more on the outdoors and sustainable living.
Built on an island right off the Finnish capital Helsinki, the Nolla cabin can be reached only by taking a ferry to Vallisaari. However, it is prohibited to overnight on the island if you are not a guest at Nolla. The cabin is a compact condo, where every detail from the decoration to heating has been designed with somewhat sustainable solutions. The energy of the wooden cabin is generated by solar panels, whereas the stove (for cooking and heating) runs on renewable diesel. Visitors are strongly encouraged to have a zero-emission holiday at the cabin, meaning that #leavenothingbutfootprint!
